Major Unusual Incidents (MUIs)

The Major Unusual Incidents (MUIs) system is set up to help protect all individuals in the Developmental Disabilities system.

By looking at individual and group data, we can see trends that can be addressed, leading to better protections. Reporting helps the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) and the Putnam County Board of Developmental Disabilities (PCBDD) get a better picture of what is happening and help make improvements in the system.

MUI Investigative Agents

Major Unusual Incident (MUI) Investigative Agents receive all reports of abuse, neglect, misappropriation, or any other MUI, as defined in state law and County Board Policy. They investigate these incidents to ensure the health and safety of the affected individual is protected. All MUIs are also reported to the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD). MUI Investigative Agents work cooperatively with the Service and Support Administration, Children Services, and Law Enforcement agencies to ensure that incidents are investigated per Ohio law.
